IME-USP hosts the XVI Latin American Congress of Mathematical Statistics and Probability

Between July 10 and 14, 2023, the XVI Latin American Congress of Mathematical Statistics and Probability (CLAPEM) will take place at IME-USP, promoted by the Latin American Society of Probability and Mathematical Statistics (SLAPEM) and by the Latin Regional Committee -American of the Bernoulli Society.

The Congress has already been organized in Venezuela, Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Cuba, Peru, Colombia, and Costa Rica, attracting researchers and students from the most important Latin American centers. 

Among the highlights of this edition, CLAPEM will have the short courses “The cutoff phenomenon for Markov chains”, taught by Professor Justin Salez from the Paris-Dauphine University & University of Paris, and “Spatial modeling and visualization using R and INLA”, offered by Professor Paula Moraga of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), designed to introduce graduate students and young colleagues to key areas of current research. Several conferences and invited thematic sessions offered by prominent researchers in Brazil and abroad are also planned, in addition to works contributed by the community.

To participate in the event it is necessary to register in advance and there is an exemption for undergraduate students. The complete program is available on the Congress webpage.
