About Our Program
The Graduate Program in Computer Science at IME-USP offers Master’s, Regular Doctoral, and Direct Doctoral programs. The Regular Doctoral program is restricted to applicants who hold a master’s degree. The Master’s and Direct Doctoral programs are open to applicants who hold an undergraduate degree.
The Master’s program aims to provide students with a solid theoretical foundation in Computer Science and introduce them to cutting-edge academic research on innovative and relevant topics. To earn a Master’s degree, students must complete coursework in advanced topics in the field and submit a thesis presenting a systematically organized and scientifically rigorous study of a topic selected in consultation with their advisor during the program.
The Regular and Direct Doctoral programs aim to train independent researchers and highly qualified professionals with strong critical thinking skills who can contribute to advancing the frontier of knowledge in Computer Science. To earn a doctoral degree, students must demonstrate knowledge of advanced topics and submit a dissertation containing an innovative and significant contribution to the field.
