.: iGeom in others languages :.

The iGeom was codified using the "internalization process", which means that isn't necessary any programming knowledge to translate it to another language. Nowadays, it is available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The English version was released in the version 2.4.9 (from 2003/08/02) and since the version 4.0.0 it is also available in Spanish (release in 2007/10/24).
The translation of iGeom to another language can be accomplished with the translation of a single file. If someone became interested in translate it, see the explanation bellow.
The Spanish messages was produced by Victoria (Jesús Victoria Flores Salazar). The English version had a great collaboration of Seiji Isotani (that was responsible for the first version of authoring and automatic evaluation feature).
It is presented bellow how to load iGeom in some of the existent languages:
  1. Applet mode: you must append a parameter defining the language as follows.

  2. Applicative mode.
    For while it is possible to change the language under command line instruction, sooner it will available under a configuration file.

    Open a shell (on Linux) or a prompt (on Windows) and type
How to generate iGeom a new language

The "translation" of iGeom to any language can be done with the translation of a single message file. This file must has the name Messages_??.properties, where ?? is the signal to represent the new language. For instance, in Portuguese (of Brazil) the message file is Messages_pt.properties.
To produce a new "translation":
  1. uncompress the file iGeom.jar, in which you can find (nowadays) 3 languages: Messages_pt.properties (Portuguese), Messages_en.properties (English) and Messages_es.properties (Spanish);
  2. choose one of them as source for the translation, create a new file with an adequate name, for example, Messages_fr.properties if the translation if to French;
  3. each line of the message file has the form
    name_of_phrase = here comes the message phrase (after the equal sign)
    translate just the right side of the line (the phrase after the equal sing);
  4. save the new message file, using the adequate language signal (for example, the fr for French, resulting in a file with the name Messages_fr.properties);
  5. compress iGeom, under the ZIP format, including the new message file.
The language signal for the new language must be used to load iGeom under it. Using once more the French example, with signal fr, the instructions to get the new language in applet is:

Using the application version of iGeom, to get the new language is:
