1. General Principle
Master’s and PhD programs follow institutional rules.
Academic decisions are not subject to individual negotiation.
Failure to comply with these guidelines compromises academic progress.
2. Academic Authority
- The advisor defines strategic academic decisions
- The committee is defined by the advisor and approved by the program
- The student does not define formal procedures
3. Commitment and Availability
- The student must ensure sufficient time commitment
- External activities do not justify poor performance
- There is no automatic flexibility for part-time status
- Progress must be continuous
Lack of time is not a valid justification.
4. Tools and Standardization
- Use of Overleaf (LaTeX) is mandatory
- The student must adapt to the advisor’s tools
- Alternative tools require prior authorization
- Files must be organized and up to date
Standardization is required to ensure quality and efficiency.
5. Responsibilities
Advisor
- Define the committee
- Provide technical guidance
- Validate quality
- Authorize external contacts
Student
- Execute the project rigorously
- Meet deadlines
- Prepare thesis or dissertation
- Implement corrections
- Follow instructions
6. Development and Feedback
- The work is iterative
- There is no final version without approval
- All corrections must be implemented
- Errors must not be repeated
Repeated errors indicate failure in execution.
7. Academic Disagreement
- Disagreements must be technical
- Refusing guidance without justification is not acceptable
- In case of disagreement, the advisor prevails
Disagreement does not justify non-compliance.
8. Quality and Communication
- Texts must be reviewed
- Basic errors must be eliminated
- The work must continuously improve
- All relevant communication must include the advisor
- External contact requires authorization
9. Prohibited Conduct
- Contacting the committee without authorization
- Attempting to influence evaluation
- Ignoring guidance
- Submitting incomplete work
- Shifting responsibility
Improper conduct will be formally addressed.
10. Defense and Consequences
- Defense depends on the advisor
- The work must reach an adequate level
- Deadlines do not guarantee defense
The decision is not negotiable.
Consequences include delays, additional revisions, and impact on evaluation.
