Victor Sanches Portella

I am a PhD student in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science from the University of British Columbia where I am supervised by prof. Nick Harvey. In 2019 obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo under the supervision of prof. Marcel K. de Carli Silva . My main research interests are combinatorial optimization, large-scale convex optimization, and algorithm design.

Online Convex Optimization: Learning, Duality, and Algorithms

Master's project in which I study Online Convex Optimization, a very interesting framework in the intersection of machine learning and convex optimization.

Almost Linear Time Algorithms for Flows in Graphs

Undergradutae thesis project in which I studied fast (quasi-linear) time Laplacian solvers and its applications, with a focus on applications to the maximum flow problem in graphs.
