How to get IME-USP?

Please, click the image below to see a map which helps to get IME-USP. The institute is located right in the center of the Campus, in front of Praça do Oceanográfico. Other references are FEA (Faculty of Economy and Administration) and FAU (Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism).

Acommodation: The following hotels are well located (in a neighborhood of Av. Paulista and Rua da Consolação) and on the way from the center to USP, so we encourage you to make a reservation in one them.

How to get the hotels: In order to get one the hotels mentioned above, please choose one of the following options:

1. -From Congonhas Airport: The easiest way to get the hotel is by taxi. The price should vary from 30-35 reais. But also you can go by public transport. For that, immediately after the exit of the airport, there is a bus stop (ônibus comum) where you can take the bus number 675I called “São Judas”. You have to get of the bus in front of the metro station “São Judas” (line 1, blue). The price of the ticket is 3,00 reais.Take the metro at São Judas station, following direction “Tucuruvi” and change from Line 1 to Line 2 (the green one) at station “Ana Rosa”. You can also change from Line 1 to Line 2 at station “Paraiso”, one station after “Ana Rosa”. Now, take the metro line 2 (green) following direction “Vila Madalena” and get of the metro at the station called “Consolação”. Find an exit to Av. Paulista. If you do this, you will be in the intersection of Av. Paulista and Rua Augusta. If your hotel is Augusta Park, walk through Rua Augusta until find the address number 922 (4-5 streets after Av. If your hotel is Carillon Plaza, walk through Av. Paulista until Rua Bela Cintra. Turn to the right at Bela Cintra and walk until find the address number 652 (4-5 streets after Av. Paulista). Check a map here

1. - From Guarulhos Airport: As usual, taxi is quite an easy option, however going from Guarulhos to the city center can be a bit expensive (around 60-70 reais). However, there are two other options. One of them is the Airport Bus Service (37 reais), which is right after the arrivals zone of the airport. If you take this bus, you can ask the driver to stop in the intersection of Av. Paulista and Rua Augusta, and then you follow the instructions explained above. By public transportation, in front of the arrivals zone of the airport, you can take the bus commonly referred to as “Tatuapé”, which goes from the airport to the metro station called “Tatuapé” (Line 3, red). Once in Tatuapé station, take the metro following direction “Palmeiras-Barra Funda” and change from Line 3 to Line 4 (the yellow one) at station “República”. Now, take the metro line 4 following direction “Butantã” and get of the metro at station “Paulista”. Find an exit to Rua Consolação. You will be almost in the intersection between Rua Consolação and Av. Paulista. Walk through Av. Paulista until Rua Bela Cintra or Rua Augusta, depending on which hotel are you going to stay. From the hotel to IME-USP: The price of a taxi from the hotel to the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (IME) should vary from 30 to 35 reais. The best way to go to IME-USP is by public transportation. For that, you have two options:

1. -metro + bus: In order to take the metro, you have to walk until Rua Consolação. Turn to the left and walk a few meters until Av. Paulista, where you can see the metro line 4 station “Paulista”. Take the metro following direction “Butantã”. You have to get of the metro at Butantã station. Behind the station you will see a bus terminal, where you can take Bus 8012 or Bus 8022. Both buses go from the metro to the university campus (Cidade Universitária). You have to get of the bus in front of the Faculty of Economy and Administration (FEA) at Rua Luciano Gualberto. The Institute of Mathematics is almost in front of FEA, and the entrance is by Rua do Matão. Check the map of the campus, including the bus itinerary here.
   

1. -bus: In order to take the bus, you have to walk until Rua Consolação. Along Rua Consolação there are big bus stops. At one of these bus stops, take Bus Butantã-USP or Bus Cidade Universitária, going to direction “Bairros”. This is explicitly written in the bus stop (Sentido Bairros). Both buses stop inside the university campus. As explained in the previous paragraph, get of the bus in front of FEA (the faculty of economy and administration), and the follow the instructions as above.
