How can mathematics contribute to AI?

The INCT-NUMEC is happy to announce a three-day symposium meant to explore the role of mathematics in the development of artificial intelligence, on August 10–12, 2026, to be held in the Antonio Galves building at IME-USP. The event will feature lectures and discussions, bringing together mathematicians, statisticians and AI researchers to examine the mathematical foundations beneath the recent successes of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Among the confirmed speakers are:

  • Prof. Paola Bermolen, Universidad de la República (Montevideo, Uruguay);
  • Prof. Joaquín Fontbona, Universidad de Chile (Santiago, Chile);
  • Prof. Rafael Izbicki, UFSCar (São Carlos, Brazil);
